Attention care providers
We will start reviewing care providers for prior authorization exemptions under Texas HB3459, set to take effect prior to September 1, 2025. If you qualify for a review regarding a prior authorization exemption, you will receive a notification by your preferred method of communication.
Please update your preferred method of communication by June 30, 2025, if your preferred method of communication is by mail or email. Update by calling the Wellpoint UM Call Center at 833-475-1458 or via Availity Essentials. Requests made later than June 30 will apply to future notifications.
Summary of HB3459
Under HB3459, care providers may qualify for an exemption from submitting prior authorization requests for specific healthcare services. This exempt status applies to Wellpoint’s Individual Exchange benefit plans. These members will have “TDI” on their member ID card.
