Add a Medicare Supplement insurance plan to help control your costs
Medicare Supplement (Medigap) insurance works to help fill “gaps” in Original Medicare (Parts A and B). It helps pay out-of-pocket costs like:
Copays
Coinsurance
Deductibles
Once you have Original Medicare, you can enroll in a Medigap plan at any time.
These plans allow you to visit any doctor or hospital that accepts Medicare patients. And, since many plans cover 100% of Parts A and B coinsurance, you can have the peace of mind of predictable costs.
Our Medicare Supplement insurance plans: A, F, G, and N
A
Covers inpatient hospital care, Medicare Parts A and B coinsurance, and Part B copayments. Plan A does not cover the Medicare Part A deductible.
F
Covers Medicare deductibles and all copayments and coinsurance. But, if you were eligible for Medicare as of January 1, 2020, you can’t join Plan F.
G
Covers all out-of-pocket costs not covered by Original Medicare for Medicare-approved services, except for the Medicare Part B deductible.
N
Helps pay Medicare Parts A and B coinsurance. You’ll pay the Medicare Part B deductible, copayment, and excess charges*, but you’ll have lower monthly premiums.
*You can avoid excess charges by receiving Medicare covered services from a provider that accepts Medicare’s payment as full payment.
Medicare Supplement Insurance vs. Medicare Advantage
You can have a Medicare Supplement insurance plan or a Medicare Advantage (Part C) plan, but not both. Here are key differences to help you choose.
Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans
- Visit any doctor or hospital that accepts Medicare patients.
- Plan moves with you if you relocate.
- Once enrolled, you can keep the same coverage with no need to renew as long as you pay your premiums.
- Plans do not include prescription drug (Part D), dental, vision and hearing coverage.
- Help to cover out-of-pocket costs such as deductibles, copays, and coinsurance.
Medicare Advantage Insurance Plans
- Choose a preferred provider organization (PPO) or health maintenance organization (HMO) plan.
- You must live in the plan service area to remain eligible.
- Once enrolled, plans can change and don’t offer guaranteed lifetime coverage.
- Plans may include prescription drug (Part D), dental, vision, and hearing coverage.
- Out-of-pocket costs vary depending on whether care is in-network or out-of-network.
