As a new member, you probably have questions, and we want you to get the most out of your benefits. Here are some tips to help you get started with your new health plan.

1. Look for your member ID card

 

You should have received your Wellpoint member ID card in the mail. You will use it to go to the doctor and in case of an emergency. If it has been more than two weeks since you enrolled and you did not get your member ID card, call us at 833-707-0867 (TTY 711).

2. Create your online account

 

To access the secure member area of our website, you will need to create your account. 

 

This will allow you to: 

 

  • View and share your member ID card. 
  • Change your primary care provider (PCP). 
  • Manage your prescriptions. 
  • Chat with us or send us a secure message. 

 

It is quick and easy to create your account! You just need your member ID number (shown on your ID card).

3. Make an appointment with your PCP


Your main doctor is called a primary care provider, or PCP. Your PCP is listed on your member ID card and in your online account. Call to make an appointment with your PCP as soon as you can. All new Wellpoint members should see their PCP within 90 days of joining. Getting a checkup now will help your PCP learn about your medical history before any health issues occur.

With the Sydney Health mobile app, you can always view your member ID card. You can also: 

  • Chat with us  
  • Find a doctor, hospital or pharmacy close by and get directions
  • Call a nurse to get answers to your medical questions anytime, day or night 
  • Manage your prescriptions  

4. Learn about your benefits

 

We want you to understand your benefits and receive the best possible care. Learn what you get with Wellpoint on your plan benefits page. You can also read your member handbook for details about your benefits. Find a copy of your handbook on your benefits page below.

Note: You need to renew your benefits each year. You will get a notice in the mail when it is time to renew. If you move, call Maryland Health Connection at 855-642-8572 (TTY 855-642-8573) with your new address.
