Important mental health and substance use disorder treatment information for Washington members
Mental health emergency resources
If you or someone you care about is facing a mental health or substance use crisis, these resources are available 24/7.
- Call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline for immediate, confidential support.
- Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room if you're experiencing a life-threatening situation.
- Call the Washington Recovery Help Line at 866-789-1511 to get confidential support. The professionally trained staff can connect you with mental health and recovery resources.
Your Wellpoint plan covers emergency behavioral health services without prior authorization. This means you can get care right away from any in-network or out-of-network emergency behavioral health provider without waiting for advance approval.
Get mental healthcare when you need it
If you need mental healthcare services, your Wellpoint Washington plan has options. Mental health treatment can include:
- In-person visits with a provider
- Telehealth visits over the phone or video chat
- Specialized treatments
To learn more about your plan’s mental health benefits or to find a therapist, log in to your member portal or download the Sydney℠ Health app.
You can also search for in-network providers by using our Find Care tool.
It’s important to get mental healthcare services when you need them.
An appointment should be available to you within:
- 10 business days for care that doesn’t need a referral or is considered primary care.
- 15 business days for care that needs a referral or is considered specialty care.
If you can’t schedule an appointment within those time frames, we can help. Call the Member Services phone number on the back of your member ID card.
We can also help you find a mental health provider outside your immediate area.

We offer many resources to help members find mental health services, including our mental health and substance use disorder programs.
